Still Waters

It is rare to see rivers as calm as the Earn was the evening I was at Kinkell Bridge.  A combination of low water resulting in low flow and a still evening meant that the water was mirror like.  The position of the sun and clouds allowed a serindipidous symmetrical composition (normally a no-no).

This GX200 image again required a lot of work on the sky to bring back the highlights, reducing the boost in the raw conversion and using full recovery and the extended curves mode and the exposure reduced slightly.  This required a bit of brightness, a touch of saturation and vibrancy to bring life back to the image.  Definition helped with the mid tone contrast.  The shadows were lifted slightly with a curve and graduated filter effect used to balance the sky (from Color Efex Pro).  It sounds like a lot of work, but it was less than 5 minutes.
