This pile of split logs was one of many at the Pillars of Hercules organic restaurant near Falkland.  I liked the pattern and texture.

While this would have worked in black and white, I felt that it was better in a slightly desaturated, contrasty development with plenty of Definition.  And that was how I developed it in Aperture 3.
