Old Banger
No sooner was I back from Germany than we were visiting friends in the Wye Valley along the border between England and Wales. The area around our friends’ house is criss-crossed with footpaths and other trails. Walking along one of these we saw this sad old car in ‘fixer upper’ condition in a small barn. Slightly dented, rusting and covered in dust it was in a sad state compared to its elegant early days:
This was taken with the GF1 and the stock 14 – 45 mm lens. Converted from Raw in RPP and imported into Aperture, it was given the standard import presets and a tweak in curves to brighten the shadows and add mid tone contrast.
On reflection, I wondered if a Bleach Bypass effect from ColorEfex Pro would enhance the feeling that the car was derelict. This gave a rather washed out appearance, which I think works well for this subject:
